I promote the CBT model because this approach to self-help is scientifically researched and evidence based. The model is educational and the rationale easily accessible. By design, this approach respects one’s ability to access his or her own resources. Developing understanding, self-reliance and self-confidence over a relatively short period of time enables swift progress, often without the need for supportive medication. I am fully confident in the CBT approach having witnessed clients move through the process of positive adjustment and change successfully, with gains sustained for the longer term.
Clients are encouraged to engage fully in the model to better understand their problem(s) from a more informed perspective, and from a position of strength to then confront and overcome life impairing problems that have in some cases been around for a very long time.
CBT can offer you a very positive learning experience, however it requires you to take back responsibility for your own future, to seek self-reliance and independence.As a therapist, I am committed to the welfare of my clients and fully honour their trust in me as I seek to support them with their best interests central at all times.
